My blackberry curve wont charge even if the plug sign is showing on the screen. How do i fix it?

My blackberry bend has been plugged for 4 hours as well as a block pointer is upon a shade though a battery is still during 5% even if i dont make use of a phone. What could be wrong as well as how could i repair it? Thanks!
