Broadband is a slip in credit card sized item that allows you to get internet in a large area. It's based on cell phone technology, so tower coverage has to be available for it to work. These cards & plans usually have an upload/download volume charge, so it may not be practical to surf at your leisure.
Wifi is built into most new lappers, and permits connection to a wifi router (what you'd want at home, or available at some establishments for free & known as a 'hotspot').
This method has limited range from a router (100 m.?), but transfer volumes are not usually on a charge/Mb amount.

Hi,

Wifi is built in your Laptop or notebook that using radio frequency transmitter to transmit radio signals to a wifi Receiver at a premises.
If free in some wifi premises but you need to register for an account.
Just manually push on the wifi button and select a network connect
program to make connection to the wifi receiver. Normally, you will see a 2 icon monitor resting on the right lower task-bar when a success connection is being made. You will see two icons flashing to indicate
signals transmitting to the receiver. Now, double click on your I.E explorer or Firefox to open your internet browser to go into a website.
Type in the example: to visit google website.
Done ! The cool things about wifi is in most places where wifi receiver
is installed, it free but you need to register with an account. Some places, you need to pay a minimum subscription.

The USB thing is wireless broadband and on has to pay for an reserved
line to make connections the same you use a mobile phone line. The cool thing for this is you can connect to internet at any place around the world when reception is valid like your mobile phone. You will experiences lagging if the signals is weak or line cut off like your mobile phone. Its not free, current from M1 . However, its speed will be
slower than Wifi connection.

Try out !

The netbook comes with a wireless card, for receiving signals such as 802.11B/G. Wi-Fi is a product name, so to speak, and refers to a wide coverage area of wireless internet access, not just one local access point, which you are typically restricted to while using your internal wireless card. She was most likely referring to an external usb adapter that allows her "wi-fi" access through a cell phone company; wherever they get reception
